Every board from Coombs Woodworks has been handmade and preserved with three coats of the highest quality food grade mineral oil and beeswax to give the board years of life in your kitchen. This food safe conditioner penetrates the natural wood surface leaving a soft protective sheen. It is easy to use and protects the wood from drying, cracking and splitting.
To clean, simply wipe the board with mild soap and water using a soft sponge or scrubby. Rinse under hot water and towel dry immediately. Air dry so the board is fully open to the air. Be sure the board is completely dry before storing. Never leave your board to soak in water or put it in the dishwasher. Submersion in water will cause the boards to twist and this will damage the glue joints.
To keep your charcuterie board in the best condition possible, rub the Board Conditioner on the surface with a soft cloth when the wood starts to look dull or feel dry. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then buff with a dry cloth. Never use vegetable oil, which can leave rancid stains or smells on your product.
To remove knife marks, or if your board becomes rough to the touch, lightly sand with 180 grit sandpaper. Be sure to remove all dust before applying the Coombs Board Conditioner. Using a microfiber cloth, wipe conditioner onto the board. Let it sit for 15 minutes and repeat. After an hour, buff with a clean dry cloth to restore the lustrous finish.
