Local & Sustainable… our moto!
Here at Coombs Woodworks, we buy as much local as possible. If we can’t find something that is local we seek for someone local who can make it for us such as the handles on our Charcuterie Boards. We are happy to say that the money stays on the Island and is spent on the Island. There is no need to shop the internet to save a few dollars and not pass this down to the customers. We just buy what we need locally, and charge a fair price for the products we sell. Our goal is all about the turns not the high retails. How does selling a single product at a high price help when you can sell 5 at a fair price. It's all about turns and local and sustainability.
Vancouver Island has an abundant amount of trees that are used for the logging industry. At our business we buy wood from wood lots or wind fallen trees or just trees that have been brought down due to safety concerns. We have a lot of wind storms on the island and we just don't see the reason to look for fresh cut wood. We have thousands of trees down every year just with the wind on the Island. The best part is these trees usually have a lot of splatting or defects that look fantastic when made into charcuterie boards. The shapes are wild and beautiful, perfect use of these trees.
